Baking Again

Baking is back.

Well, I don’t know how much it has returned for me, but I finally have gotten my itch to continue cooking/baking/figuring out why I enjoyed making food in my free time. It’s been a sort of return to form. Baking for this holiday season, for a few different occasions, has given me something new to be excited about at a time when I seemingly haven’t had a chance to explore anything else that isn’t directly related to my research or org work. It’s been the one space where I could just at least briefly zone out and begin to get excited about something for myself.

Back in the time when I was never allowed to watch much Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network, Noah the elementary school student would watch the news, sports, and Food Network. That’s pretty much what made up the TV watch habits growing up. I’d spend weekends catching up on The Great Food Truck Race or trying to see what Alton Brown had cooked up on Good Eats. My fascination and interest in cooking didn’t just come from the perspective that I wanted to make sweet eats for myself (albeit that was a component). I was really trying to come up with interesting ways to make new things. I’d add another spice or another item into a recipe to see what could shift around, or what else I could come up with.
